About Us

Stepping Stones Consulting was established in Salmon Arm in 1996 by Jim Niemi. The commitment and drive to help others learn and experience “themselves” has resulted in countless cases of people discovering how they can make a difference and contribute to their own lives and the careers that they decide to partake in. “We cross streams daily as we lead our life. We set our direction or goal and take a step. Trusting in our self awareness, our skills, and our essence, we then plot our next step. Sometimes we must alter our path. Other times we stumble. The only difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how we use them. But by having a clear goal and with confidence in our capabilities, we move toward our goals one stepping stone at a time.”

At Stepping Stones Consulting we continually experience and benefit from this metaphor. In a desire to minimize our stumbles, we strive to improve our ability to make decisions – step by step. We learn, we increase our skills, we practice listening to our essence. We know that change is a permanent condition of our society. Our journey is one step at a time, and with each step we evolve.

“Jim’s open style of facilitation not only ‘models the model’ but creates an atmosphere that encourages the most reluctant clients to look within themselves to develop a career plan that will meet their needs. The growth of the Implicit Career Search® owes a great deal to Jim’s enthusiastic and unwavering support and the people of Salmon Arm are fortunate to have someone of his ability and passion available to them. The reason Jim didn’t become an official ICS Facilitator until 1999, is that we didn’t have a train-the-trainer program until then.” ~ Steve Miller, Implicit Career Search Author, Steve’s Implicit Career Search website
