“Steve Miller has developed a method for seekers to find their inner compass and use this to locate the deeper meaning of who they are and the purpose of their work. I have delivered over 200 ICS workshops over the past 15 years and I am truly amazed at what happens in the course of 2 weeks. The Implicit Career Search® is a universal model that allows seekers at any stage of their journey to see what’s next. Shift really does happen when we decide to get out of our own way…Thanks Steve!”

Stepping Stones Consulting offers a very popular program that helps explore new possibilities for your future from the inside out. The Implicit Career Search® is a 10 day workshop designed to provide you with a career goal, specific action steps and the courage to accomplish it! The Implicit Career Search® is a universal model that allows seekers at any stage of their journey to see what’s next.
One of the greatest catastrophes in our career decision making process is spending time, money and energy on education, training and skills development without a clear understanding of why we’re doing this. Quite often we make these decisions based on outside influences i.e. parents, teachers, career counselors… or we don’t know what we want to do so we take on jobs to meet survival needs and delay exploring the burning questions from within that involve deeper meaning, purpose and passion in what we’re doing. Delaying this type of exploration can result in living our lives from the “outside in”.
The Implicit Career Search® challenges the status quo and presents a different paradigm that empowers individuals to become self aware and self determined to make decisions that align with the essence of who they truly are. This approach is much more effective because it challenges us to not only “think outside the box” but actually jump outside of it and have the awareness and courage to stay there as we develop and deliver our contribution through the different ages and stages of our journey.
Many employment agencies are now using this model to help clients develop return to work action plans based on the contribution they wish to make through their work. Studies, research and follow-up have shown this approach to be much more effective in helping clients sustain long-term attachment to the workforce.
Over the past 15 years, our experience shows that clients who use this “first step” planning approach have a much higher success rate securing employment and accessing other government programs and agencies that may be instrumental in supporting their “next steps”. A few of these agencies include:
- Self Employment (Community Futures)
- Employment Wage-subsidy programs (Community Futures)
- Funding for Training (Bowman )
- Persons with Disabilities (Goshen)
- Training (Okanagan College)
They also report a “good sense” of the people who have completed The Implicit Career Search® workshop prior to accessing their program, because they exhibit a more energized sense of self and a more clarified direction.
“Steve Miller has created an amazing gift in the Implicit Career Search. It continues to be my highest pleasure to share that gift to others. The interest in our program is growing at a rapid rate and there are always twice as many applicants as there are seats available. Participants travel from well outside of the community and have even come from other provinces for this unique and effective approach.
The Implicit Career Search offers nothing short of a major paradigm shift in the field of career counselling. The methods and framework provided, promote self-awareness, personal responsibility, and ignite participants’ innate desire to contribute to society in healthy, productive ways.”
